Treasurer's Report - David Wesker

Overall this has been a good season for the group's finances. Although it has been a very busy season, events were well planned and executed, so as well as being successful musically they were also successful financially.

NSWO Representative Report - Trevor Vivian

Well hello,

I am writing a missive about my year on the NSW committee to give you an insight into the role of band representative, so here goes.

I have never been party to the inner workings of our amazing group before and it has certainly been an interesting experience. I never realised the expense and time that goes into organising concerts, arranging workshops, planning social events, fundraising and tour organising.  It has been, truly, eye opening as to how much effort goes on behind the scenes to keep the organisation afloat and I feel that,if I have been able to help, in any shape or form, then, as the song says, ‘I feel good’.

I felt that the most important part of this role on the committee is to be approachable and I hope that I have fulfilled this task.  I have been asked, throughout the year, to broach many varied subjects and one has to view all questions with impartiality and sensitivity.  I think that most of the issues have been resolved, but I do apologise if I we have not been able to quite resolve them all.

I think that we have had a fantastic year in the band and our concerts have gone from strength to strength.  The phrase, ‘it rocked’ has been uttered on numerous occasions from my lips prior to tucking in to a celebratory pint after a concert(ok, possibly two) and I am looking forward to going to Austria on tour and doing some damned good playing(in more ways than one).

One last thing to say really and that is that if anyone fancies stepping into my shoes then just be aware that when you attend the committee meetings make sure that a flack jacket is worn on all occasions due to Margaret and Dave’s amazing exploding coffee flask trick!!!!!!

Thank you for letting me have the experience of representing you on the committee.

Trev

NWE Representative Report - Elizabeth Pywell

Hi everyone,

This year it has been really good to watch the ensemble grow in leaps and bounds and to see some big changes too. I was very new to committee work when I took on the role last year, and what a learning curve!  However, I hope that you feel I have always been there to listen to your ideas and to put them forward.

During this year we have dealt with issues such as the extremely successful workshop and the appointment of a great new conductor, and hopefully you've all realised your opinions do matter and are taken on board.

I think this is just the start of a bigger, stronger ensemble and there's lots to do in the coming year, so I hope if you feel I've done ok so far that you'll let me continue for another year. I feel I'm only just getting started and I'm eager to carry on!

I've really enjoyed my time on the main committee and thank you all for giving me the chance to make a difference for you.

Many thanks
Elizabeth
