Nottingham Symphonic Winds raise £6,400 for charity (July 22, 2008)
The Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Nottingham Wind Ensemble have together raised more than £6000 for charity in their 2007-8 season.

Among the charities benefitting are the Derbyshire Childrens' Holiday Centre, the British Heart Foundation, Victim Support and the Ronald MacDonald House Charities.

Organiser Margaret Frogson is delighted with the total.  "This is our best year so far for fundraising, thanks in part to the support of audiences who come to our concerts.  It is wonderful to think that we can enjoy making music and help some of these charities along the way, and audiences this year have been extremely good.  We'd like to think that's partly because the reputation of the groups means that if people come along they know they will hear a good concert!  It has always been part of our purpose to raise money in this way so we feel this year has been a real success."
