New conductor appointed for NSWO (January 10, 2006)
New conductor for leading Nottingham wind orchestra
Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra has appointed Keiron Anderson as their new conductor and musical director.
The award-winning group are previous gold medal winners in the BASBWE open concert band finals, and are delighted that their search for a new conductor has resulted in Keiron’s recent appointment.
Keiron Anderson, a highly experienced and innovative conductor of wind ensembles, is known particularly for his work with the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra, the Harlequin Brass Ensemble and more recently the National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain. He is also a composer and a BASBWE adjudicator.
Under Keiron’s direction there are already some exciting plans for the group. This summer Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra with guest soloist Nigel Hinson will perform the Artie Shaw Clarinet Concerto at the Albert Hall in Nottingham, where Nigel will play on Artie Shaw’s original clarinet. They also have a tour booked to Italy for later in the summer, and in the diary for November 2007 will be a special birthday concert in honour of the group’s twentieth anniversary.
