Magical Christmas

More than 700 children and adults descended  on Nottingham’s Albert Hall for the 2010 NSW ‘Magical Christmas’ spectacular.

“It was like walking into a musical version of Santa’s grotto”.

Santa 2010
Ali and Boy One of the cornerstones of Nottingham Symphonic Winds' activities and hosted by Alistair Parnell, these concerts have become hugely popular, with a total attendance of around 4000 children and parents since their inception in 2002.

The 2010 theme was  ‘A Magical Christmas’ and the setting and the music evoked the magic of Christmas traditions and the role that music plays – from carols to the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas.’

The Band

The massed orchestra of musicians, from Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra and the Nottingham Wind Ensemble, really entered into the spirit of the occasion, dressing in traditional Christmas costumes.  The atmospheric lighting and sparkle of the hall drew gasps of delight from the audience.  Georgia Wallace, 9, was very impressed,“It was like walking into a musical version of Santa’s grotto!”

With lots of opportunities to join in – there were games, songs, and carols -  there was a real buzz to the occasion.

Snowman Game
Brass Band There was wonderful Christmas music to enjoy from the orchestra, and smaller groups of flutes and brass, overall a perfect introduction to concert-going for all the family.

Kidsophonic 2011 will be on the theme of ‘A Fairytale Christmas’ and will be held on Saturday 17th December.  Tickets on sale from September 1st  from Windblowers 0115 941 0543.
