Nottingham Wind Ensemble in Kinoulton Village Hall

(July 03, 2010)

‘If you weren’t there, you missed a treat.’ One of the many comments following Nottingham Wind Ensemble’s Summer Concert at Kinoulton Village Hall on Saturday, July 3.

‘It was a lovely evening’ – true in so many respects, from the warm sunny weather and comfortable village hall to the careful choice of music, much of it well-known but with some interesting new pieces as well.

‘When they started with the Dambusters’ March, I knew I was going to enjoy it.’  Some foot-tapping, hum-along stuff, especially when they got to the jazz!

‘They were all so enthusiastic and happy!’  Some good, rousing traditional tunes played with great gusto, and plenty of lively commentary from the conductor – no-one was in danger of falling asleep, even after the wine in the interval.

‘When are they coming back?’ Probably the best praise of all. And we raised over £320 for church funds. Thank you Claire, Margaret and all the players – not forgetting the bonus of the sax octet – we would love to see you again.

Sheila Hill, Kinoulton
